Alex Negranza moved to Houston from Seattle in 2014 to work at Anvil Bar & Refuge. In 2018, he was named Imbibe Bartender of they Year shorty after opening up Better Luck Tomorrow and Tongue-Cut Sparrow. In 2019, he was a panelist at the very first seminar for Tales of The Cocktail that focused on LGBTQ presence within the industry; the seminar was called The Queer Community Revealed: Turning Allies into Advocates.

Wine Enthusiast named Alex Negranza one of their 40-Under-40 recipients in August 2019 shorty before he opened all-day cafe and bar, Penny Quarter, with Bobby Heugel. Negranza left the company in 2019 and the cafe later closed in 2020 due to COVID-19 shutdowns. Negranza is currently working with Goodnight Hospitality in Houston, TX under the direction of Master Sommelier June Rodil and business partner, Chef Felipe Riccio. His role as the Bar Manager for their upcoming fine dining establishment, MARCH Restaurant, opened as a pop-up in their Lounge for the Winter 2020. The full restaurant is set to open in Spring 2021.
